Wind Jet, also known as Windjet, is an Italian low cost airline following the failure of Air Sicilia. Wind Jet is based in Catania and owned by entrepreneur Antonino Pulvirenti, has been operational since June 18th of 2003. The airline operates domestic flights and international services to major european destinations, including Russia, as well as seasonal flights to some destinations in Egypt. Wind Jet is the first Italian low cost airline by number of passengers carried, its main hubs are located in the airports of Catania (CTA), Palermo (PMO) and Rimini (RMI). Due to financial problems, On 11 August 2012, Wind Jet has ceased operations until further notice.
