Alitalia-Compagnia Aerea Italiana Spa (CAI), is the largest Italian airline, as well as the country's flag airline. The new company, based in Fiumicino, near Rome, was founded August 26, 2008 from the liquidation process of the old Alitalia-Linee Aeree Italiane (founded in 1947). Its operates domestic, international and intercontinental flights in over 60 countries and more than 90 destinations. Its two main hubs are located in Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa airports, with secondary bases at Milan Linate, Catania, Naples, Turin and Venice. The company has a domestic market share of 49.7% (year 2011), with the exclusive on the route Rome Fiumicino-Milan Linate. The group includes, in addition, the airlines Alitalia Express, Air One, Air One CityLiner, Volare (Volareweb and Air Europe). On 12 January 2009, Alitalia sold 25% of the company's shares to Air France-KLM. Alitalia is part of the SkyTeam Alliance, its frequent flyer program is MilleMiglia.
