Hostel Hostal Canela y Miel, Baños
16 de Diciembre entre Ambato y Oriente, Baños, Ecuador

Description
Spend the night at Hostal Canela y Miel when you are backpacking Ecuador or launching Amazon River adventures. This friendly Ecuador hostal has a great location in the centre of the town of Baños de Agua Santa (commonly referred to as Baños), which is sometimes called the Gateway to the Amazon for its position on the Pastaza River, a tributary of the Amazon, and its good paved road to Puyo. Hostal Canela y Miel offers reasonably priced private rooms in a quiet neighbourhood of Baños. The hostal is staffed 24 hours a day, and guests can enjoy meals in the cafeteria on the fifth floor. Parking is not included in the price and costs $2 per night. Wi-Fi internet access is available in some of the hostal’s public areas, including the cafeteria. Please note that this hostal is not bookable for children. The hostal is within walking distance of the town’s distinctive Catholic church, La Iglesia de la Virgen de Agua Santa, and the thermal baths that gave Baños (Baths) its name. Numerous scenic waterfalls decorate the hills around the town, and good walking destinations include the Puente San Francisco bridge over the Pastaza River. White-water rafting on the Pastaza is popular. Baños is in the northern foothills of Tungurahua, an active stratovolcano, and is often used as a launching point for trips into remote Llanganates National Park. A common route to the Amazonian cities of Tena and Macas goes through Baños via the paved road to the town of Puyo in Pastaza Province.
